- We suggest wearing clothes that won't attract attention; you should be the focal point not your clothes. Bold, bright colors and patterns distract away from the face. Solid, toned-down colors work better.
- If you want color accented photos a couple bright shirts (red) should be included in your selections.
- If you are looking for head shots colors that closely match your eye color work well.
- Make sure to choose timeless pieces that won't date the photo.
- Darker colors look slimming; lighter colors tend to make you look pale.
- Wider necklines tend to thicken the neck; closer necklines, including V necks, tend to flatter.
- Long pants tend to look better than shorts.
- Most important, you need to be comfortable in the clothes that you choose!
- For group photos consistency with color and color tones look better. You don't want one person to stand out.
- Lay out the whole group's clothing beforehand including socks and shoes. If your eyes are drawn to one item then change it out.
- You might want to consider where you will hang the photo in your house, which might change your clothing choices.
- Keep hair and make-up simple, natural and timeless.
- Keep in mind eye glasses and glare issues. If you do not have anti glare on your lenses you might consider empty frames, no glasses at all, contacts, or spraying hair spray on the glasses before the shoot (washing away with soap and water after).
- If you have questions about what to wear or you are unsure bring extra sets of clothes and accessories with you!
